Yacht races in Marmaris

This year’s record attendance at the annual yacht race in Marmaris has contributed greatly to the tourism town’s economy and publicity, officials said.

Yalçın Çetin, president of the Marmaris International Yacht Club, or MIYC, who organized the event, said there are 121 sailing boats in competition and racers come from 16 different countries, who are expected to spend approximately $1 million in town.

The 19th International Yacht Festival, sponsored by Koç Allianz Sigorta, Netsel Marina and Marmaris Municipality, started last weekend and will end Friday. Continue reading »

The 18th International Race Week Has Started

“The 18th International Race Week” which is organized by Marmaris International Yacht Club, has started in Marmaris. 100 yachts from 15 countries and regions will compete in the races which will be held in five categories.

A total of 700 racers from Russia, Germany, Austria, Australia, Estonia Ukraine, Britain, France, United States, Italy, the Netherlands, Denmark, Greece and Sweden besides Turkey will compete.
