Once upon a time, starts the story of Cleopatra, Queen of Egypt, complaining with the incurable longlasting headaches. The doctors of that time couldn’t find a remedy for the treatment of the illness.
One day a young man came with a solution which was hard to believe. The solution was a soap-massage in a Turkish bath .
Now and then ; complaining from body pains, long lasting headaches, giving up excess body-weight, desire for feeling fresh and young addresses you to a “Hamam” where you feel like a new-born person.
If you’re after the perfect tan, one of the best ways to start it off is with a trip to the traditional Turkish bath (known in Turkey as a ‘Hamam’). Here’s what to expect when you get into your local hamam. It is an experience that never ceases to give you enjoyment, not just because a Turkish Bath leaves you feeling “squeaky” clean, but because it is also something so different to back home.
Before the days when people had bathrooms in their homes- this was where all the locals went to not only get themselves cleaned up, but to meet all their neighbors and have a good old gossip. Once you go inside, you will be shown to some cubicles where you undress down to your swimsuit and wrap yopurself in the towel provided (called ‘pesternal’) and then proceed to a large, domed-shaped room called ‘gobek tasi’.
This room is completely lined with heated marble-floor, walls and bench seats with a large square marble ‘table’ in the middle of the bench-type seats are old-fashioned taps underneath each tap a saucepan-sized copper bowl. Everyone in the room will sit around and built up really good sweat- this is to soften your skin and open up all your pores.

Strict measures will be taken to ensure security in the Aegean resort town of Marmaris during the upcoming tourism season.
Local police officials and restaurant and bar owners held a meeting Tuesday to discuss security measures for the summer. The restaurant and bar owners were given a 12-artcle list that states the rules they should follow.
Marmaris Police Chief Yaşar Turan Çebi said at the meeting that police do not have a magic wand to maintain security in the town and the locals should help the police. “Marmaris is a window to the world and you all make a living thanks to the tourists,” Çebi told the restaurant and bar owners. “A disturbance in the public order, especially if the victim is a tourist, will put all of us in trouble. We, as the police, will do our part, but it is not enough. You should all be very careful in your establishments.”
Çebi said the town would have a trouble-free tourism season if the restaurant and bar owners follow the rules and cooperated with the police. “The rules we’ve given you are not strict orders,” he said. “These are the rules to follow to make the Barlar Street a secure and peaceful place. If you have any trouble with the police officers working on your street, I will give you my cellular phone number and you can contact me any time.”

Marmaris and it’s enviroment are blessed with several good beaches, some developed, some still isolated. Içmeler, illustrated here, has some of the cleaner water and sand but is a little short of cheap accommodation. If you’re travelling independently then your best bet is probably to either take a day boat trip from Marmaris to “Cleopatra’s Isle” or one of the other popular destinations.
Marmaris beach, home-away-from-home for big tattoo man, is a couple of miles long with a traffic free promenade stretching all way round the bay to the rather better Içmeler. Good for beer, chip butties and 24hr satellite soccer, it also has an award-winning PADI & BSAC dive centre. 2 hrs 15 mins from Dalaman Airport.
